pursuant to Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (hereinafter 'GDPR'), Legislative Decree no 196/2003 and subsequent amendments and supplements and the Guidelines of the Italian Data Protection Authority of 10 June 2021
INTRODUCTION
With the present information notice, the Italian National Olympic Committee (hereinafter referred to as "CONI") intends to illustrate the methods of management of its website, accessible electronically at the web address www.coni.it/it/privacy-policy (hereinafter also the 'website'), with particular reference to the purposes and methods with which the personal data of the users who consult it are collected, recorded and used.
This information does not concern other sites, pages or online services that can be reached via hypertext links that may be published on the Site but which refer to resources outside the entity's domain.
1. PERSONAL DATA BEING PROCESSED
CONI, in its capacity as Data Controller, collects:
a. Navigation data
During navigation, the computer systems and software used to operate the website acquire certain personal data, the transmission of which is implicit in the use of network communication protocols. In particular, this category of data includes IP addresses (a numerical label that uniquely identifies a 'host' device connected to a computer network using Internet protocol), or the domain names of the computers used by users connecting to the site and, more generally, other parameters relating to the user's operating system and computer environment.
b. Data provided directly by the data subject
The optional, explicit and voluntary sending of messages to the contact addresses and the filling in and forwarding of the forms on the Controller's website entail the acquisition of the sender's contact data, necessary for replying, and all the personal data included in the communications. Specific information can be found on the Site's pages concerning particular services or processing the data provided.
c. Cookies and other tracking systems
The website uses different types of cookies, which are small text files sent by the website to the terminal of the interested party (usually to the browser), where they are stored and then transmitted back to the website the next time the same user visits. Cookies can be used to record information about your preferences, such as the pages you browse or the download of files from our Site or other similar actions you take while browsing.
There are different types of cookies:
(i) Technical Cookies
Technical cookies are those necessary to enable navigation on the Site and its proper functioning.
They are not used for any other purpose and are normally installed directly by the owner or operator of the website. They can be divided into:
(i.i) Browsing or session cookies, which ensure normal navigation and use of the website and are necessary for the proper functioning of the website (allowing, for example, to make a purchase or authenticate to access restricted areas);
(i.ii) Analytical cookies, assimilated to technical cookies where they are used directly by the site operator to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how they visit the Site, to improve the Site's performance.
(i.iii) Functionality cookies, which allow the user to navigate according to a set of selected criteria (e.g. language, products selected for purchase) to improve the service provided to the user.
(ii) Profiling cookies
Profiling cookies collect information about the user to customise the online experience and send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user while surfing the web.
(iii) First or third party cookies
Cookies may be first or third-party cookies, where 'first party' means cookies installed by the site owner itself, and "third party" means cookies installed by third parties other than the site owners.
(i.iv) Lifetime cookies
Cookies have a lifetime dictated by the expiry date (or a specific action such as closing the browser) set at the time of installation. Cookies can be:
(i.iv.i.) Temporary or session cookies: are used to store temporary information, allowing actions performed during a specific session to be linked and are removed when the browser is closed.
(i.iv.ii) Persistent cookies: are used to store information such as your login name and password so that you do not have to re-enter them each time you visit a specific site. These remain stored on the computer even after closing the browser.
For more information on the cookies used by this website, see the cookie policy below.
2. LEGAL BASIS AND PURPOSE OF PROCESSING
2.1. The processing of the data referred to in letter a) is based on the legitimate interest of the Data Controller (Article 6 letter f of the GDPR and Recital 47) and is aimed at enabling the operation of the Site and the provision of the navigation service on the platform, as well as monitoring the proper functioning of the services offered.
2.2. For processing the data referred to in point b), please consult the specific information on the Site.
2.3. For the processing of the data referred to in point c), please consult the cookie policy below.
3. OBLIGATION TO CONFER
3.1. The provision of the data referred to in point a) above for the above purposes is optional. However, failure to do so may affect the navigation of this Site.
3.2. Please refer to the respective statements for the provision of the data in points b) and c).
4. SCOPE OF DATA COMMUNICATION
The personal data collected will be processed exclusively by CONI staff, specifically authorised for this purpose and, as Data Processors, by those subjects who carry out processing operations on behalf of CONI.
5. DATA TRANSFER ABROAD
5.1. Personal data are stored on servers located in Italy. In any event, it is understood that the Data Controller may move the servers outside the EU if necessary. In this case, the Data Controller ensures that data transfer outside the EU will occur according to the applicable legal provisions and, in particular, those set out in Title V of the GDPR.
5.2. Apart from the cases in point 5.1, your data may be shared with services located outside the European Union. In this case, the Data Controller assures as of now that the transfer of data outside the EU will be carried out following the abovementioned legal provisions and, where necessary, by adopting additional technical/organisational measures that ensure compliance with the EU level of protection of personal data.
6. PERIOD OF DATA RETENTION
6.1. The personal data referred to in point a) will be kept for the time strictly necessary to achieve the purposes for which they are processed and in any case in compliance with the principles of minimisation and limitation of storage referred to in Article 5.1 letter e) of the GDPR.
6.2. Please refer to the specific information above for the storage period of the data referred to in points b) and c).

When you visit this website, you may receive cookies from sites operated by other organisations (‘third parties’). One example is the presence of 'social plugins' for Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn, or embedded media display systems such as YouTube. These are parts generated directly by these sites and integrated into the web page of the visited host site. These plugins result in the transmission of cookies to and from all sites operated by third parties. The management of information collected by 'third parties' is governed by the relevant privacy policy you should refer to.
